Yesterday, more than 1,000 All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters in the Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State switched to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
During the start of the PDP’s 2023 campaign at the headquarters of Toto Local Government Area, a former chieftain of the APC in the state, Ja’afaru Mohammed Ibrahim, led more than 1,000 people who had left the party to join the PDP.
Ja’afaru Mohammed Ibrahim, who ran for governor of the state in 2019 on the APC platform, claimed that the APC had broken its promises to the people of the state, particularly in his Toto Local Government Area. He spoke on behalf of the defectors.
“Therefore, I believe that the PDP administration will be capable of solving the problems of my people if it formed the next government both in the state and at the centre.”
According to report from Leadership, he reassured the PDP campaign team that the Toto people would not hesitate to support all PDP candidates in the upcoming general election, just as they had done for other political parties that had sought their support in previous elections.
