Pastor Famakinwa Ajayi, 61, was found guilty of defiling and impregnating a 16-year-old girl and was given an 18-year jail term by an Ondo State High Court.
In accordance with Section 31(1) of the Child’s Rights Law of Ondo State and Section 32(1), Ajayi of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ayede Ogbese, in the Akure North council area of the state, was charged in court on two (2) counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a child.
The victim later gave birth to the defendant, it was discovered.
Mrs. Helen Falowo, the Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions for the Ondo State Ministry of Justice, filed the lawsuit with the case number AK/195C/2021 on behalf of the state government of Ondo.
The defendant was released and found not guilty on Count 2 by Justice Yemi Fasanmi, but he was found guilty on Count 1 and was subsequently found guilty and sentenced to 18 years in jail.
At the defendant’s residence, where the victim’s family was a tenant in Ayede Ogbese township in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, according to Falowo, the defendant repeatedly had carnal knowledge of the victim.
Additionally, it was claimed that the defendant had sexually assaulted the victim at the market square, where he had taken her under the pretense of saving her from demonic spirits.
“He continued in this dastardly act unabashedly till the innocent minor became pregnant in October 2021.

Olori Olufunmilayo Nejo-Oluyede, a well-known advocate for women’s and human rights and the monarch’s wife, took in the victim, sent her back to school, and agreed to immediately support her education after being informed of the occurrence by the Ayede Ogbese Women Vanguard of the community.
Additionally, Olori Olufunmilayo Nejo-Oluyede gave the victim’s mother control over a small company so she could care for the infant, whom she kindly named “Peter.”
Prior to then, the victim had quit school and turned to selling clean water with her mother on the Ayede Ogbese Akure-Owo route.
Oba Ajibola Oluyede expressed his great happiness with the court’s decision in a statement about the progress in his domain.
“This will undoubtedly serve as a deterrent to others,” stated Oba Oluyede.
