Senator Ademola Adeleke, The Osun State Governor-elect, has pleaded with the current governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, to stop making up stories about how he will get his mandate back.
After Adeleke was declared the winner of the governorship election on July 16, Oyetola claimed in various forums that he would soon regain his mandate and that his loss was due to the counting of votes rather than the actual election.
However, Adeleke criticized Oyetola in a statement released yesterday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, stating that Oyetola does not have a mandate to reclaim his position because he was decisively defeated in the election on July 16.
Adeleke lashed out at “the antics of a false democrat, whose role model are little tyrants and Trumpists of this world,” pointing to the rampant theft of Osun State assets since the election in July. She also said that many of Oyetola’s lies on the governorship tribunal had been exposed, and his petition had been rejected because it was baseless and unfounded.
According to Adeleke, Oyetola and the All Progressive Congress, APC, have practically abandoned diligent prosecution of their petition while chasing shadows with unrelated and unpleased applications and submissions, from a media trial to outright sponsorship of falsehood against proceedings at the tribunal.
