INTELS Nigeria Limited has graduated a new batch of 73 Women Empowerment Project Scheme Synergy (WEPSS) beneficiaries, bringing the scheme’s total beneficiaries to 1,700 to date.
In 2013, INTELS established WEPSS to provide training in fashion design and tailoring to 5,000 community women over a 20-year period to empower them.Every year, the beneficiaries receive free training in two batches.
INTELS also gave the Best Graduating Student a business support grant of N2 million and gave start-up kits to 15 other Outstanding Graduating Students at the graduation ceremony of the new batch of 73 beneficiaries from the 2022 Batch B last weekend at the WEPSS Training Centre, Federal Lighter Terminal, Onne Port.
The organization likewise gave 1,000 pieces of clothing to the Middle for Lawful Help and Detainees Recovery (CELSIR) – a Non-legislative Association (NGO) zeroed in on offering legitimate help for penniless prisoners and casualties of common freedoms infringement.
In addition, CELSIR assists inmates with reintegration and rehabilitation during their time in prison.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the managing director, INTELS Nigeria Limited, Pasquale Fiore, said, WEPSS is part of the vision of the Group Chairman of INTELS, Mr. Gabriele Volpi, to support and empower Nigerian women.
“This facility was set up at the instance of our Group Chairman as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility targeted at the women of the communities where we operate in line with our commitment to enhance the socio-economic status of women in our host communities. The sole purpose of this programme is to enable women generate sustainable sources of income to support themselves and their families.
