Maritime economy key to Lagos 30yrs economic plan — Employment Clinic
If Lagos State is to carry out its 30 year economic plan, the maritime economy cannot be disregarded, according to Ronke Kosoko, Chief Executive Officer of Employment Clinic.
Maritime Conversion Programme (MCP), which was announced by Kosoko and aims to hire 5,000 graduates, was created to introduce Nigerian graduates to the maritime industry by enhancing career prospects. Kosoko described Employment Clinic as an employment solution company that bridges the gap between supply and demand.
Kosoko congratulated Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the incoming president, and Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, on their re-election and urged them to give attention to the maritime sector.
She reveals that the MCP has received backing from the government at all levels, allowing it to support and connect at least 5,000 Nigerian graduates with the relevant firms in the sector who can hire them for non-technical marine jobs.
According to her, “The maritime economy is still suffering, including employment, infrastructure, policy issues and appointment issues are segments and if they are not fused together the maritime economy is not going anywhere. Tinubu and Sanw-Olu should pay attention to the maritime economy”.
She also explained, “Employment clinic is an employment solutions company that bridges the gap between the demand and supply side, they are the real employers of labour who hire graduates and also work with young people.
“MCP takes care of the non technical part of the manpower needed in the maritime industry and that has nothing to do with going on board vessels”.
