Wilson Uwujaren, the EFCC’s spokesman, revealed in a statement on Thursday that the suspects were detained on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, as a result of reliable information connecting them to a suspected internet-related scam.
The commission listed Takwan Emmanuel, Kelvin Onedu, Evans Edwin, David Osuji, Osang Tony, Confidence Oblech, Uche Chinedu, Gabriel Kanong, Ojong Victor, Ephraim Ikechukwu, and Shedrack Mfon as the other 26 suspects who had been held.
Others are: Godswill Omini, Walter Opha, Godswill Iti, Moses Sha, Prince Uba, Anyi Bassey, David Disi, Peter Silas, Christian Uche, Chidindu Oforji, Kelvin Anyanwu, Anthony Ojone, Samuel Disi, Gideon Joseph and Ezekiel Francis.
According to the FBI, preliminary investigations revealed that some of the suspects were experts in love scams while others engaged in impersonation fraud and obtaining under false pretense.
According to the statement, the suspects’ belongings included many mobile phones, laptops, five vehicles, and a wifi gadget. It also stated that they will soon be brought to court.
