One person was slain on Thursday after gunmen in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, Enugu State, attacked a member of the Central Neighborhood Watch.
Onyebu Idoko, also known as Alaye, was reportedly ambushed on his way to work by a group of approximately 30 masked gunmen.
Recall that the same gang was attacked by the same thugs two years prior, which resulted in the deaths of the Commander and the patrol commander.
According to a witness who requested anonymity, the hoodlums are free to roam the neighborhood.
He claimed that at around 3 p.m., a member of the neighborhood watch riding a motorcycle struck a group of over 30 hoodlums who were walking near the council headquarters’ Mkpamute Road.
“It was a terrible situation. The shock is too much for me. We saw them marching on the street with guns ordering people to clear the road until the neighborhood watch member met them.
“They ordered the man he is carrying on his motorcycle to come down and leave the arena and shot the man severally. His blood was flowing like water on the road,” he said.
