On Thursday, the Court of Appeal upheld Jibrin Isah of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as senator for Kogi East.
INEC declared Isah the victor of the Kogi East Senatorial District election, but the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate who came in second, Victor Adoji, contested Isah’s return in the tribunal on the grounds that polls were cancelled in several polling units.
Adoji petitioned the tribunal to overturn Isah’s win and order a fresh election in the senatorial district’s 94 impacted polling units.
The tribunal, chaired by Justice K.A. Orjiako, ordered a rerun in 94 voting units where there were anomalies in the last general election in a unanimous decision.
Isah, However, he filed an appeal against the lower court’s judgment.
In its decision on Thursday, the Court of Appeal overturned the tribunal’s decision and upheld the appellant’s triumph.
