On Sunday, November 12, 2023, around 7:20 a.m., areas of Accra felt an earth tremor. The short tremor sparked panic among locals, prompting many to flee their houses in regions including as Weija, an Accra suburb.
Residents in Mallam, Gbawe, SCC, and Bortianor were also reported to have felt the earth tremor on Sunday morning.
Fortunately, no injuries or property damage have been reported at this time. Despite the lack of physical injury, some people who witnessed the earth tremor shared their experiences on social media sites.
In the impacted communities, the disaster has increased awareness and conversation about earthquake preparedness.
