In advance of the annual Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, which takes place tomorrow, Saturday, February 10, 2024, between 5:00 am and 2:00 pm, the Lagos State administration has released a traffic advice.
Funsho Williams Avenue from Stadium, Surulere; Ikorodu Road to Anthony; Gbagada to Third Mainland Bridge; Third Mainland Bridge (Inbound and Outbound); Dolphin Road to Alfred Rewane Road; Falomo Roundabout to Bourdillon Road; Lekki Bridge to Freedom Way and Akin-Adesola to Ahmadu BelloWay are among the routes that the state government has announced will be temporarily closed to traffic during the marathon.
The alternate routes accessible for the marathon are the following: Apongbon Bridge inwards, Eko Bridge through Costain Roundabout, Iponri, and Bode Thomas for a desired destination, according to a statement released by the state government and signed by Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi.may use the Eko Bridge to connect Oyingbo/Jebba to Herbert Macaulay for a desired location via the Costain Roundabout and Apapa Road.
In order to continue their journey, drivers can also use Victoria Island to connect Herbert Macaulay Road with Independence Bridge and CMS Bridge, which allow them to access Apongbon from Ijora-Olopa to Iddo and Oyingbo.
For drivers attempting to use the Third Mainland Bridge: starting at 12:00 PM tonight and continuing until the conclusion of the marathon, drivers will not be able to cross the Third Mainland Bridge.
Osiyemi further suggested that all outgoing trips from Ikorodu Road and Funsho Williams Avenue to Lagos Island would not be diverted, and that officers from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority would be stationed at the diversion sites to ensure smooth traffic flow and the security of
