Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, has come under fire for “unwarranted and provocative social media rants and devious commentary by some misguided political enemies,” according to the Kogi Peoples Movement for Equity and Justice.
The organization said that the remarks were an attempt to sow discord between the former governor and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, his father and political leader, in a statement released on Monday by Cordinator Sani Usman.
The statement read, “And this will continue to be the case between the father and the son no matter the evil machinations of fifth columnists and disgruntled elements who are bent on destroying the relationship.” It stated that Bello regards the Nigerian leader as his father and benefactor.
“Former Governor Bello, whose immense political power has offended a lot of his detractors. He has consistently worked to rally support for Mr. President, particularly from up-and-coming Northern leaders, as the President faces economic issues with the tenacity of a commander in chief and the unusual zeal of leading from the front.
Since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was elected following the general election, the children of hatred have been making frantic efforts to malign Alhaji Yahaya Bello’s persona and character in order to sow unnecessary division between him and the President.
“The hateful remarks made in the media by paid social media trolls and those who support them, implying that there is ‘discord’ between President Tinubu and former Governor Bello, are not only blatantly false but
plainly unfortunate, especially at this moment when, regardless of party background, we must come together as a country to face issues of insecurity and economic hardship.
“We advise the enemies of the public good and national cohesion, for the umpteenth time, to refrain from rehashing old, tired, failed, and dead narratives that have been buried since President Tinubu’s ascent to the position of Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces and as the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate.
“Ex-Governor Yahaya Bello, who is still a staunch supporter of President Bola Tinubu, his father and unwavering political leader, deserves to be allowed to live his life as a private citizen.” Individuals that are determined to cause miscommunication ought to be encouraged to awaken from their unfortunate sleep.
No matter what the enemies throw at the public in their desperate attempts to keep feeding their nefarious base with false narratives, “they should resist the temptation to wallow in the figment of their imagination of a discord between Mr. President and ex-Governor Bello as NOTHING will break the bond between them,” the statement continued.
