South African specialists have responded to claims that Nigerians living in or visiting the nation are undependable as the two nations get ready to face each other in the AFCON 2023 semi-finals on Wednesday.
Nigeria’s High Bonus in Pretoria, in a proclamation, said possibly provocative web-based remarks were made by a part of South African residents against Nigerians living in South Africa.
“The majority of the remarks comprise of subtle provocations against ‘Nigerians cooking jollof rice’ before the match, and ‘showing pepper to Nigerians in the event that the Bafana lose to the Super Falcons’, among others,” the warning cautioned.
Responding to the warning, South Africa’s Head of Public Tact, Clayson Monyela, depicted the dangers as sad.
“This is an exceptionally lamentable and deplorable assertion gave by our Nigerian companions. He wrote on X that “it creates unnecessary alarm and tension.” Monyela stated that both teams have faced off against one another numerous times, and there is no history of South African hooliganism against Nigerians.
“SouthAfricans🇿🇦 represent no danger to Nigerians. We’ll draw in our Nigerian partners through political channels further on this. Absolutely superfluous!”
This will be the fourth gathering among Nigeria and South Africa at the AFCON.
In the three past experiences, the Super Hawks have arisen victors in every one of the ties. The last time the two groups met in the semi-finals was at AFCON 2000 which the Hawks won 2-0.
