A journalist present at the protest in Maiduguri, Borno State, shared a live update during the event. The report was interrupted by the unsettling news of a protester being gunned down, coinciding with the sound of gunfire in the area.
“People are protesting now in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, and we’ve heard the sound of shots or something like that… This is what’s happening. We will get to the assault. One person is down!” the journalist conveyed.
When questioned if this incident was related to the protests, the reporter affirmed it while hastily moving to avoid stray bullets. In response to an inquiry about whether shots were being fired at individuals, the journalist confirmed, “Yes.”
