A British doctor, Thomas Kwan, 53, has pleaded guilty to attempting to murder his mother’s partner by administering a fake Covid-19 vaccine, using poison. Kwan, a family physician from Sunderland, disguised himself as a nurse and forged medical documents to deceive his victim, Patrick O’Hara, in Newcastle. In the shocking scheme, Kwan even took his mother’s blood pressure before injecting O’Hara with the lethal substance.
O’Hara survived the attack but suffered from necrotizing fasciitis, a dangerous flesh-eating infection. Kwan, who was also charged with administering a noxious substance, admitted guilt as his trial progressed at Newcastle Crown Court. The case has sent shockwaves through the medical community due to the premeditated nature of the crime.
