Although not everyone is in favor of bringing in such a large number of immigrants from other countries, Canada is placing a significant bet on immigration to fill the economic void left by the retirement of Baby Boomers.
The federal government unveiled a bold strategy earlier this month to admit 500,000 new immigrants annually by 2025, with nearly 1.5 million new immigrants arriving in the next three years.
According to BBC News, Canada would receive approximately eight times as many permanent residents per population under this plan as the United Kingdom and four times as many as its southern neighbor, the United States.
However, a recent poll reveals that anxiety about welcoming so many newcomers is also present.
