Reverend Danjuma Byang, a member of the northern Pentecostal Bishops’ delegation that recently met with Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the candidate for president of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has apologized for being present at the gathering. According to the Guardian, the clergyman shared his regret in a WhatsApp group called “Blunt Truth,” where he talked about what happened at the meeting.
However, Byang, who confirmed his presence, explained that the religious leaders came to the politician to voice their displeasure with the governments of the north.
His words:
“Yes, I attended the meeting and wrote a short report of it. I am surprised that the only thing they read there is the transport money I said I collected.”
Recall that the clergy men came out in support of Tinubu few weeks back and this sparked an outrage among Nigerians as some tagged it as blasphemous after news went round about the clergymen being fake.
