Three people filed a lawsuit in Abuja’s Federal High Court to stop the inauguration of President-elect Bola Tinubu and his vice, Kashim Shettima, due to age and citizenship misrepresentations in a document Tinubu submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission. The court dismissed the lawsuit.
In a decision on Friday, Justice James Omotosho ruled that the lawsuit filed by the three individuals, Praise Ilemona Isaiah, Pastor Paul Isaac Audu, and Anongu Moses, was frivolous and a misuse of the legal system.
The plaintiffs lacked locus standi, according to Justice Omotosho, and the court lacked jurisdiction to hear the case because it concerned a presidential election.
