Dr. Yetunde Adeniji, a pillar of the All Progressives Congress, has encouraged President Bola Tinubu to follow the example of the late Chief MKO Abiola, a symbol of democracy, and put the needs of Nigerians first.
The accusation was made by Adeniji in a post-Democracy Day statement released on Tuesday in Abuja.
The director of The Asiwaju Group called on the president to continue defending democratic values while lending a helping hand to the less fortunate while praising the populace for their steadfast dedication to democracy.
She claimed that June 12 should serve as a reminder of Nigeria’s arduous journey toward a type of government that empowers the populace and gives them a voice.
She said, “As we move forward, I implore President Tinubu to emulate the late Chief MKO Abiola by championing the cause of democracy and extending a helping hand to those in need. By prioritizing the well-being of all Nigerians, especially the less privileged, we can truly build a just and prosperous nation.
“Democracy Day is a time for us to reflect on the significance of democracy in our nation and renew our commitment to upholding its principles. I commend the Nigerian people for their resilience and unwavering belief in the power of democracy.
She also commended the many people who sacrificed greatly to bring about this democratic age and emphasized the significance of preserving and fostering these fought-for liberties.
“The best is yet to come in this administration. We urge the president to continue his steadfast dedication to democratic ideals and the well-being of the Nigerian people.
She suggested that President Tinubu use his leadership skills to reach out to the less fortunate people in his country and make sure they are not left out of its development.
