The Nation has received $28.5 million in humanitarian aid from the United Nations to combat malnutrition and food insecurity.
Due to high inflation rates and other factors, more than 19.5 million Nigerians already face severe food insecurity despite the funding.
The purpose of the funds, which were distributed by means of the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund and the Central Emergency Response Fund, was to quickly allocate them to new crises that were getting worse.
This would allow people in need to receive emergency financial assistance.
Our correspondent was able to obtain a copy of the organization’s most recent report, which revealed the sum.
According to the report’s breakdown, the organization contributed $10 million and $15 million, respectively, to support food security and nutrition response in northeastern Nigeria in May and September 2022.
