Jasper Lankhorst, the group chief executive officer of Rack Centre, the best-connected Tier III carrier and cloud-neutral data center in West Africa, reiterated the company’s commitment to the green economy despite vowing to continuously improve its drive for sustainability in its operations.At the recently concluded 2022 AfricaCom/Africa Tech Festival in Cape Town, South Africa, Lankhorst disclosed this information.
Speaking during the panel discussion themed “The Importance of Going Green” for Africa’s future data centers. He explained that Rack Centre, a component of the pan-African data center platform, was implementing a variety of measures geared toward environmentally friendly design principles. Some of these measures include switching from diesel to gas power generation, implementing low-energy air circulation systems, water-efficient cooling systems, and sourcing local materials and services whenever possible.
