Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has praised Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, for his generous donation of N500 million to aid the victims of the Maiduguri flood, which recently displaced millions of residents and affected 70 percent of the city.
During a special reception at the Borno State Government House, Governor Zulum expressed his deep appreciation for Seyi’s swift and impactful intervention. He highlighted that the donation came at a critical time when many flood victims were in desperate need of relief. Zulum emphasized that the funds, alongside the relief materials provided, will make a significant difference in helping the displaced regain stability.
“We are immensely grateful for this heartfelt support,” said Governor Zulum. “Seyi Tinubu’s generosity and compassion towards the people of Borno will not be forgotten. His efforts, along with his team, have brought hope to those who need it the most. This gesture is not only timely but demonstrates true leadership and solidarity with the people of Maiduguri.”
Seyi Tinubu’s visit, accompanied by his brother, associates, and partners, further underscored his commitment to addressing the dire situation. Seyi acknowledged the resilience of the Maiduguri people, commending their ability to endure and recover from years of hardship, including insecurity.
Seyi shared, “Maiduguri holds a rich history, and despite the challenges the state has faced, the people have remained steadfast. This is why we all must come together to bring relief in times of need. The donation is a collective effort, and we hope it can provide some relief for the flood victims.”
Beyond the monetary support, the Noella Foundation, led by Seyi and his wife Layal, also contributed 10,000 mosquito nets, blankets, mattresses, and essential relief items to aid in the immediate needs of the displaced families.
Governor Zulum reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the donation and materials would be properly utilized for their intended purpose, promising that the people of Borno would directly benefit from Seyi Tinubu’s benevolent efforts.
This intervention by Seyi Tinubu showcases a remarkable partnership between the public and private sectors, with leaders like him answering the call to action during one of Borno’s most challenging moments.
