LAGOS—The first son of Nollywood star Yul Edochie, Kambilichukwu Edochie, passed away yesterday.
Two months after Edochie and his wife Mary Edochie celebrated their son’s 16th birthday, the son passed away.
Pete Edochie confirmed the tragic news to Pioneer yesterday, saying his son Yul had phoned him on the phone on Wednesday to let him know that Kambilichukwu had collapsed while playing football with his schoolmates and had suffered a seizure.
He claimed that the deceased was taken by ambulance to the Mother and Child Hospital in Lagos, where he later passed away.
The renowned actor claimed that as soon as Yul reached him on the phone to discuss the tragic event, his family instantly began praying for the child.
Edochie said: “Kambilinachukwu is a very quiet, brilliant and talented child. He’s not somebody you can ride easily. He doesn’t get angry no matter the situation.
He might alter his demeanor, but he was unquestionably a unique person in many ways.
“He was so accomplished. I always tell my son that I don’t like people excelling like this in any thing they are involved in. Experience has taught me that such people don’t last long.”
Edochie expressed regret that his grandchild passed away when he had so much promise.
But, since the occurrence, neither Yul nor his first wife, May, have spoken out.
