Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, has taken the oath of office for a second term in office.
The Oath of Office, which was delivered by Justice Kazeem Alogba, the Chief Judge of Lagos State, marks the start of the governor’s second four-year term.
At 11:38 a.m., the governor was sworn in.
Earlier, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the state’s deputy governor, took the oath of office to begin his second tenure in that position.
After receiving 762,134 votes, Sanwo-Olu was proclaimed the victor of the 2023 governorship election. His closest competitor, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party, received 312,329 votes. Olajide Adediran, the Peoples Democratic Party’s nominee, received 62,449 votes to finish third.
