Almost immediately after beginning widespread demonstrations against the elimination of fuel subsidies, the Organized Labor postponed its planned strike action.
In an interview with Arise News on Thursday morning, Festus Osifo, the president of Trade Union Congress, made this statement.
He claimed that the Labour leaders who met President Bola Tinubu earlier got promises to some of the problems brought up during the meeting that will be put into action right away.
He stated that this was the basis for the strike’s suspension.
According to The Spectator, the Nigeria Labour Congress declared in a press release on Tuesday that it will go ahead with the initially scheduled statewide mass demonstration after meeting with the Federal Government.
Comrade Joe Ajaero, president of the NLC, said that the discussion with the administration did not result in any good adjustments or concessions that would modify their course of action. They emphasized that they were consistent in their resolve to speak for the interests and aspirations of Nigerian workers and the general populace.
