The Katsina State Hisbah Board has ordered the immediate closure of a hotel in Katsina due to allegations of corrupting the morals of underage girls. The Hisbah Commander General, Dr Aminu Usman, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Katsina. The hotel was found to be violating an agreement previously reached with hoteliers across the state.
“The motel breached the Board’s norms by permitting underage girls to stay on its premises.
“During a recent inspection, the Board discovered that two underage girls were accommodated in the same room, in violation of Hisbah legislation.
“This is the second time such an offence was committed at the New Palace Hotel, despite previous warnings by the Board and a promise by the hotel’s management to stop such incidents.”
He stated that during a collaborative discussion with hotel managers from across the state, it was decided that no hotel would accept underage children.
“Due to the hotel’s failure to comply with the Board’s standards and meet the specified conditions, we have decided to close it immediately.
“We are committed to enforcing reforms andTo maintain long-term peace, the commander stated that discipline must be instilled in accordance with the state’s religious and cultural values under the rule of law.
