The Joint Security Operation has slain three alleged political thugs in Anyigba, Kogi State’s Eastern Senatorial District, only four days before the governorship election.
SP William Ovye Aya, the Police Public Relations Officer in Kogi State, made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday.
According to Aya, security personnel also discovered two AK47 weapons from the alleged assailants.
Aya stated that the operation was carried out by officers from the Nigeria Police, the Department of State Security, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on a building where political thugs were being housed by political parties, and that two members of the team were shot and seven suspects were arrested.

Even after identifying themselves, the team came under heavy fire, and in reaction, three of the political thugs were Shot down, two AK47 weapons were confiscated, two team members were hurt, and seven suspects were apprehended.
“To that end, in order to ensure a peaceful election in the state, raids on suspected criminal/thugs’ hideouts will continue in order to deny them safe havens to operate.” Please keep the existing operation continuing till after the election.”
