To make it possible for customers to exchange their old naira notes for new ones, the Central Bank of Nigeria has instructed commercial banks in the nation to operate on Saturdays until January 31, 2023.
On December 15, 2022, the CBN had announced plans to redesign, produce, release, and distribute a new series of banknotes.
According to PunchNews, Mr. Osita Nwasinobi, Director of the CBN’s Corporate Communications Department, made the remarks on Thursday at the CBN fair in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State. He said that the new and existing currencies would remain legal tenders and circulate together until January 31, 2023, when the existing current will cease to be legal tender in Nigeria.
“Promoting financial stability and economic development” is the theme of the CBN Fair.
