The go-ahead has been given to increase the electricity prices for users in the Band A category by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
Musliu Oseni, the Vice Chairman of NERC, declared that electricity rates will increase on Wednesday during a news conference in Abuja. Customers will now pay N225 per kilowatt-hour instead of the existing N66 due to this modification.
“We will soon have less than 500 feeders that fall into the Band A category, down from the present 800. Accordingly, 17% of them are now eligible to be Band-A feeders. Just 15% of all electricity users linked to the feeders are served by these feeders.
