Due to his ongoing disagreement with the British royal family, Prince Harry has formally relinquished his residency in the country.
The US was chosen by the Duke of Sussex to be his principal place of residence.
According to Page Six documents, Harry identified the US as his “new country/state usually resident,” which is a significant departure from his prior ties to the UK.
The Companies House filing for Harry’s ecotourism company, Travalyst, states that this change in residency took place on June 29, 2023, one day after Harry and Meghan Markle left their UK residence, Frogmore Cottage.
The couple’s future intentions and standing within the royal family are currently being discussed, which is why they are taking this legal action.
While Harry’s royal titles are still affected by his decision to give up his British residency
Uncertain, there are rumors that he might talk about this when he visits London in the near future.
Harry admitted that he had mixed feelings about his relationship with the UK, calling it his “home” but also stating that their departure to the US was due to safety concerns.
Despite their current residency in the US, the Duke of Sussex stressed in December 2023 the value of his children’s heritage and safety while on UK land.
But the prince has also expressed interest in becoming an American citizen, even if he now sees it as a lower priority.
However, Harry’s previous drug-related confessions, which are reported in his biography “Spare,” cast doubt on how simple his immigration procedure was.
While some legal experts advise that it won’t have much of an impact unless he runs into more legal problems, worries persist about possible consequences, such as having to give up his royal titles in order to meet US citizenship requirements.
