Philip Shaibu, the deputy governor of Edo State, has surfaced as the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) split candidate for the state’s governorship on September 21.
According to Daily Trust, Shaibu won more over 3,000 votes in a parallel primary election that was conducted inside his Commercial Avenue home in Benin City, making him the party’s nominee for governor.
Shaibu won with a resounding majority of the votes, according to Returning Officer Bartholomew Moses, who announced the results following collation.
According to earlier reports, certain PDP delegates attempted to enter the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, the site of the primary meeting, but were turned away.According to a source, the delegates later relocated to Benin, this time to the deputy governor’s lodge.
