According to local media, Pope Francis addressed his ill health at a meeting with officials of the European Rabbinical Conference on Monday. The pontiff had a full day of audiences and decided to welcome the rabbis individually, according to Matteo Bruni, a spokesperson for the Holy See.
Francis’ scheduled events for Monday are anticipated to proceed as planned. The Argentine’s health has been a source of concern for Catholics worldwide in recent months, with two hospitalizations this year. He was diagnosed with pneumonia in March and underwent abdominal surgery under general anesthesia a few months later.
When questioned about his health, Pope has stated repeatedly, “I am still alive.”
