Former governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike’s alleged impact on the emergence of minority leaders in the 10th National Assembly, according to senator Ned Nwoko of Delta North Senatorial District, is unfounded.
On Wednesday, Nwoko made this statement while interacting with journalists in his office.
The member rejected the rumor, saying Wike is ineligible to represent the minority’s seven political parties.
Nwoko, a senator from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), emphasized that before Tuesday’s plenary, the opposition Senators made their own decisions.
Seven political parties make up the minority in the tenth assembly, he declared.
The question is, “Is Wike a Member of Seven Political Parties?” “This becomes the requirement for those parties to nominate who will be the minority leader”
Nwoko stated that they had a right to express their opinions and added that several signatures were needed before the minority leaders could be revealed.
There is nothing anyone can do because some persons have been collecting senators’ signatures for this exercise for more than two weeks and have fulfilled the requirements.
“PDP as a party knows when the 10th Assembly was inaugurated, and if they want to participate in the nomination of the leadership, how many times have they called for a meeting?
“So nobody should cry over spilled milk,” he said.
